Narrative:

Descent clearance given based on fix behind aircraft (hto) with insufficient distance to comfortably accommodate. Requested relief. Vague reply from ZBW controller frequency 124.52. Advised center wouldn't be able to comply. Received another vague controller response as to relieving the restr. We leveled within 2 mi of fix with up to 6000 FPM rate of descent.

Title: FLC OF A B757-200 FAILED TO MAKE XING ALT RESTR AND NOTIFIED ATC ON 2 OCCASIONS THAT THEY WERE TOO CLOSE TO MAKE THE DSCNT IN TIME. HOWEVER, THE CTLR'S ACKNOWLEDGEMENT BOTH TIMES WAS NOT CLR AS TO WHETHER THERE WOULD BE A PROB OR NOT.
