Narrative:

Returning from part 135 flight from teb, I was instructing a new first officer on 2 pilot operations and was the PNF. The flight was uneventful and smooth with very little radio communications. Approaching buf I requested runway 23 to allow the PF a long runway and ILS backup. We were cleared for the approach. We landed on runway 23 and exited on taxiway F and noticed we were never on tower frequency. I switched to tower and notified them we were clear of runway 23 on taxiway F and he cleared us to the ramp. I don't remember being switched to tower to receive our landing clearance, I was busy helping the PF configure and set up the approach. I don't believe there was a conflict on landing as we were the only aircraft in the area at that time. I normally turn on the landing lights when cleared to land but changed the routine following the checklist as written. I apologize if any problems arose due to this as it was inadvertent and a mistake. I will be sure that in the future the final check will be '3 in the green, and cleared to land.'

Title: FLC OF AN ATX PIPER PA31-350 FORGOT TO CONTACT THE TWR AND OBTAIN LNDG CLRNC AFTER BEING CLRED FOR THE ILS APCH.

Narrative: RETURNING FROM PART 135 FLT FROM TEB, I WAS INSTRUCTING A NEW FO ON 2 PLT OPS AND WAS THE PNF. THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL AND SMOOTH WITH VERY LITTLE RADIO COMS. APCHING BUF I REQUESTED RWY 23 TO ALLOW THE PF A LONG RWY AND ILS BACKUP. WE WERE CLRED FOR THE APCH. WE LANDED ON RWY 23 AND EXITED ON TXWY F AND NOTICED WE WERE NEVER ON TWR FREQ. I SWITCHED TO TWR AND NOTIFIED THEM WE WERE CLR OF RWY 23 ON TXWY F AND HE CLRED US TO THE RAMP. I DON'T REMEMBER BEING SWITCHED TO TWR TO RECEIVE OUR LNDG CLRNC, I WAS BUSY HELPING THE PF CONFIGURE AND SET UP THE APCH. I DON'T BELIEVE THERE WAS A CONFLICT ON LNDG AS WE WERE THE ONLY ACFT IN THE AREA AT THAT TIME. I NORMALLY TURN ON THE LNDG LIGHTS WHEN CLRED TO LAND BUT CHANGED THE ROUTINE FOLLOWING THE CHKLIST AS WRITTEN. I APOLOGIZE IF ANY PROBS AROSE DUE TO THIS AS IT WAS INADVERTENT AND A MISTAKE. I WILL BE SURE THAT IN THE FUTURE THE FINAL CHK WILL BE '3 IN THE GREEN, AND CLRED TO LAND.'
