Narrative:

Shortly after takeoff from msp, dispatch called to warn us not to takeoff, although we already had. They were a little late. They needed us to return because the aircraft needed to be inspected because a hail storm 2 hours previous passed through the area. We did return for the inspection and found the aircraft needed to be grounded for hail damage. A miscom occurred between dispatch and the flight crew prior to departure, in order to comply with a safety inspection on the aircraft following a hail storm. The hail damage was located in areas not normally visible to a pilot on a normal preflight walkaround inspection. However, both the captain and myself neglected to use our resources and query dispatch as to whether or not an inspection by maintenance was completed. The aircraft flew normal without any indications of any control surface problems or any damaged equipment. We did return to msp, our departure airport, without any occurrences.

Title: A BAE146 IS RECALLED FROM FLT WHEN COMPANY DISPATCHER BELIEVES THAT THE ACFT SUSTAINED SOME DAMAGE FROM A HAIL STORM WHILE ON THE GND AT MSP.

Narrative: SHORTLY AFTER TKOF FROM MSP, DISPATCH CALLED TO WARN US NOT TO TKOF, ALTHOUGH WE ALREADY HAD. THEY WERE A LITTLE LATE. THEY NEEDED US TO RETURN BECAUSE THE ACFT NEEDED TO BE INSPECTED BECAUSE A HAIL STORM 2 HRS PREVIOUS PASSED THROUGH THE AREA. WE DID RETURN FOR THE INSPECTION AND FOUND THE ACFT NEEDED TO BE GROUNDED FOR HAIL DAMAGE. A MISCOM OCCURRED BTWN DISPATCH AND THE FLC PRIOR TO DEP, IN ORDER TO COMPLY WITH A SAFETY INSPECTION ON THE ACFT FOLLOWING A HAIL STORM. THE HAIL DAMAGE WAS LOCATED IN AREAS NOT NORMALLY VISIBLE TO A PLT ON A NORMAL PREFLT WALKAROUND INSPECTION. HOWEVER, BOTH THE CAPT AND MYSELF NEGLECTED TO USE OUR RESOURCES AND QUERY DISPATCH AS TO WHETHER OR NOT AN INSPECTION BY MAINT WAS COMPLETED. THE ACFT FLEW NORMAL WITHOUT ANY INDICATIONS OF ANY CTL SURFACE PROBS OR ANY DAMAGED EQUIP. WE DID RETURN TO MSP, OUR DEP ARPT, WITHOUT ANY OCCURRENCES.
