Narrative:

On this flight I was performing the duties of a check airman, giving IOE to a new first officer. During an ILS approach to den, either approach control did not hand us over to the tower or we missed the call. The result was a landing without landing clearance. Not receiving a handoff is no excuse for landing without a clearance. We should have caught the omission. I have 8 yrs experience as a check airman. I always brief my trainees to watch and question my actions. As I tell them, IOE is 'flying single pilot with a distraction' (the trainee) for an instructor. We had flown a 14+ hour duty day the day before, with a short overnight. This was the first flight of the day. I was the PF on this leg. On the ILS approach I was concerned with our spacing with the preceding aircraft and its wake turbulence. I believe I was concentrating on my own duties (flying the aircraft) and was not paying enough attention to the first officer's radio calls. I thought we had clearance to land until we exited the runway and contacted ground control.

Title: FLC OF A DORNIER DO328 FAILED TO CONTACT TWR PRIOR TO LNDG RESULTING IN LNDG WITHOUT CLRNC. FLC WERE ADVISED OF THEIR ERROR AFTER LNDG WHEN CONTACTING GND CTL FOR TAXI TO PARKING.

Narrative: ON THIS FLT I WAS PERFORMING THE DUTIES OF A CHK AIRMAN, GIVING IOE TO A NEW FO. DURING AN ILS APCH TO DEN, EITHER APCH CTL DID NOT HAND US OVER TO THE TWR OR WE MISSED THE CALL. THE RESULT WAS A LNDG WITHOUT LNDG CLRNC. NOT RECEIVING A HDOF IS NO EXCUSE FOR LNDG WITHOUT A CLRNC. WE SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT THE OMISSION. I HAVE 8 YRS EXPERIENCE AS A CHK AIRMAN. I ALWAYS BRIEF MY TRAINEES TO WATCH AND QUESTION MY ACTIONS. AS I TELL THEM, IOE IS 'FLYING SINGLE PLT WITH A DISTR' (THE TRAINEE) FOR AN INSTRUCTOR. WE HAD FLOWN A 14+ HR DUTY DAY THE DAY BEFORE, WITH A SHORT OVERNIGHT. THIS WAS THE FIRST FLT OF THE DAY. I WAS THE PF ON THIS LEG. ON THE ILS APCH I WAS CONCERNED WITH OUR SPACING WITH THE PRECEDING ACFT AND ITS WAKE TURB. I BELIEVE I WAS CONCENTRATING ON MY OWN DUTIES (FLYING THE ACFT) AND WAS NOT PAYING ENOUGH ATTN TO THE FO'S RADIO CALLS. I THOUGHT WE HAD CLRNC TO LAND UNTIL WE EXITED THE RWY AND CONTACTED GND CTL.
