Narrative:

Air carrier 1 bwi-ind, apr/xx/98, 90 NM mie, heading 273 degree frequency change given 125.07, air carrier 1 read back and understood 125.37 and read back. Air carrier 1 checked on 125.37 (ord approach) requested right around WX at FL250. 125.37 was working air carrier 2 and air carrier 3 -- did not realize that air carrier 1 was on wrong frequency and cleared air carrier 1 right around WX down to 17000 ft, altimeter 29.81. For about 4 mins air carrier 1 was being controled by ord approach while inbound to ind. No pilot or controller knew what was going on! Air carrier 1 returned to ind approach frequency after 2 or 3 frequency changes and completed flight. The overlapping frequency and like call signs was a problem.

Title: AN ACR MLG DSNDING IN ZID AIRSPACE COPIES THE WRONG FREQ FOR THE NEXT ARTCC CTLR. IT HAPPENS THAT THE FLC CHANGES TO AN ORD APCH FREQ. THE APCH CTLR GIVES DIRECTIONS FOR 4 MINS BEFORE GETTING ACFT BACK TO ARTCC.

Narrative: ACR 1 BWI-IND, APR/XX/98, 90 NM MIE, HDG 273 DEG FREQ CHANGE GIVEN 125.07, ACR 1 READ BACK AND UNDERSTOOD 125.37 AND READ BACK. ACR 1 CHKED ON 125.37 (ORD APCH) REQUESTED R AROUND WX AT FL250. 125.37 WAS WORKING ACR 2 AND ACR 3 -- DID NOT REALIZE THAT ACR 1 WAS ON WRONG FREQ AND CLRED ACR 1 R AROUND WX DOWN TO 17000 FT, ALTIMETER 29.81. FOR ABOUT 4 MINS ACR 1 WAS BEING CTLED BY ORD APCH WHILE INBOUND TO IND. NO PLT OR CTLR KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON! ACR 1 RETURNED TO IND APCH FREQ AFTER 2 OR 3 FREQ CHANGES AND COMPLETED FLT. THE OVERLAPPING FREQ AND LIKE CALL SIGNS WAS A PROB.
