Narrative:

I was cleared to taxi to runway 26. No specific taxi route was directed by the ground controller. There are 2 parallel txwys to runway 26, J and H. I chose H and after getting on it the ground controller said to exit H and take J because H is limited to aircraft weighing 50000 pounds. There is a note to this restriction on the upper portion of the commercial plate which I did not see. It states txwys a, B, D, east, H and left are restricted to 50000 pounds. The fault is mine for not noticing the note, but if the taxi instructions had said taxi by J to runway 26 or if there were some better, more visible way to show these 6 txwys are restricted, this would help alleviate the problem. There is another area on the chart that clearly shows an arrow pointing to an area that is weight restricted, but the note on the top of the chart is the only alert to these 6 txwys and there are no signs either. The easiest fix would be for the ground controller to say 'taxi to 26 by juliet.' as added background, later that night I taxied out at louisville (ksdf). We had landed on runway 17L and prior to taxi the ATIS said runways 17L and right were in use for takeoff. When we called for taxi, we were told to 'taxi to runway 35L.' again the taxi instructions gave no specific route. It is a long, circuitous route from gate to runway 35L, and there is much construction going on on the txwys, and the parallel txwys for 35L are not even open. Had the controller just stated 'taxi to runway 35L by hotel and pappa,' it would greatly ease the burden of a 2 mile taxi in the dark on an airport with extensive construction. Simply adding the taxi route the ground controller would like you to take would greatly ease the process of ground maneuvering. A ground controller at any airport is probably intimately familiar with all txwys while a pilot who may only see this airport a few times a year could use even this little bit of extra information. No conflicts or safety problems occurred in lubbock and I taxied on a taxiway for which I was too heavy because I missed the note on the commercial chart for which I am responsible. But, better taxi instructions, a sign, or better markings on the chart would have allowed me to easily avoid this problem.

Title: FLT CREW OF B737 TAXIES ONTO A TXWY WHICH IS STRESSED ONLY FOR ACFT LESS THAN 50000 LBS. THERE IS A NOTE TO THIS EFFECT IN THE UPPER CORNER OF THE CHART WHICH THE FLT CREW DID NOT SEE.

Narrative: I WAS CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 26. NO SPECIFIC TAXI ROUTE WAS DIRECTED BY THE GROUND CTLR. THERE ARE 2 PARALLEL TXWYS TO RWY 26, J AND H. I CHOSE H AND AFTER GETTING ON IT THE GND CTLR SAID TO EXIT H AND TAKE J BECAUSE H IS LIMITED TO ACFT WEIGHING 50000 LBS. THERE IS A NOTE TO THIS RESTRICTION ON THE UPPER PORTION OF THE COMMERCIAL PLATE WHICH I DID NOT SEE. IT STATES TXWYS A, B, D, E, H AND L ARE RESTRICTED TO 50000 LBS. THE FAULT IS MINE FOR NOT NOTICING THE NOTE, BUT IF THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS HAD SAID TAXI BY J TO RWY 26 OR IF THERE WERE SOME BETTER, MORE VISIBLE WAY TO SHOW THESE 6 TXWYS ARE RESTRICTED, THIS WOULD HELP ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM. THERE IS ANOTHER AREA ON THE CHART THAT CLRLY SHOWS AN ARROW POINTING TO AN AREA THAT IS WEIGHT RESTRICTED, BUT THE NOTE ON THE TOP OF THE CHART IS THE ONLY ALERT TO THESE 6 TXWYS AND THERE ARE NO SIGNS EITHER. THE EASIEST FIX WOULD BE FOR THE GND CTLR TO SAY 'TAXI TO 26 BY JULIET.' AS ADDED BACKGROUND, LATER THAT NIGHT I TAXIED OUT AT LOUISVILLE (KSDF). WE HAD LANDED ON RWY 17L AND PRIOR TO TAXI THE ATIS SAID RWYS 17L AND R WERE IN USE FOR TKOF. WHEN WE CALLED FOR TAXI, WE WERE TOLD TO 'TAXI TO RWY 35L.' AGAIN THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS GAVE NO SPECIFIC ROUTE. IT IS A LONG, CIRCUITOUS ROUTE FROM GATE TO RWY 35L, AND THERE IS MUCH CONSTRUCTION GOING ON ON THE TXWYS, AND THE PARALLEL TXWYS FOR 35L ARE NOT EVEN OPEN. HAD THE CTLR JUST STATED 'TAXI TO RWY 35L BY HOTEL AND PAPPA,' IT WOULD GREATLY EASE THE BURDEN OF A 2 MILE TAXI IN THE DARK ON AN ARPT WITH EXTENSIVE CONSTRUCTION. SIMPLY ADDING THE TAXI ROUTE THE GND CTLR WOULD LIKE YOU TO TAKE WOULD GREATLY EASE THE PROCESS OF GND MANEUVERING. A GND CTLR AT ANY ARPT IS PROBABLY INTIMATELY FAMILIAR WITH ALL TXWYS WHILE A PLT WHO MAY ONLY SEE THIS ARPT A FEW TIMES A YEAR COULD USE EVEN THIS LITTLE BIT OF EXTRA INFO. NO CONFLICTS OR SAFETY PROBLEMS OCCURRED IN LUBBOCK AND I TAXIED ON A TXWY FOR WHICH I WAS TOO HEAVY BECAUSE I MISSED THE NOTE ON THE COMMERCIAL CHART FOR WHICH I AM RESPONSIBLE. BUT, BETTER TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, A SIGN, OR BETTER MARKINGS ON THE CHART WOULD HAVE ALLOWED ME TO EASILY AVOID THIS PROBLEM.
