Narrative:

Requested visual approaching VOR in good VMC at 4000 ft. Cleared visual and immediately asked for a 360 degree turn to lose altitude on tower frequency. Cleared as requested and cleared visual to land. Transient aircraft popped up on TCASII 6 mi and 2000 ft above as we initiated our 360 degree delay turn. No communications were heard from this aircraft at any time during the approach nor were we advised of any traffic by either approach or tower. As we turned final the other was 3 mi in trail and 1300 ft above us. That was the closest the 2 aircraft came to each other throughout our approach and landing. Ground then advised us to call baq approach, which we did. To our surprise baq approach told us the other aircraft had filed a near miss.

Title: AN ACR B727 FLC RPT THAT ANOTHER ACFT APPARENTLY FILED AN NMAC AGAINST THE RPTR'S EVEN THOUGH THEIR TCASII DISPLAY SHOWED THAT THEY WERE ADEQUATELY SEPARATED WHILE CIRCLING TO LOSE ALT.

Narrative: REQUESTED VISUAL APCHING VOR IN GOOD VMC AT 4000 FT. CLRED VISUAL AND IMMEDIATELY ASKED FOR A 360 DEG TURN TO LOSE ALT ON TWR FREQ. CLRED AS REQUESTED AND CLRED VISUAL TO LAND. TRANSIENT ACFT POPPED UP ON TCASII 6 MI AND 2000 FT ABOVE AS WE INITIATED OUR 360 DEG DELAY TURN. NO COMS WERE HEARD FROM THIS ACFT AT ANY TIME DURING THE APCH NOR WERE WE ADVISED OF ANY TFC BY EITHER APCH OR TWR. AS WE TURNED FINAL THE OTHER WAS 3 MI IN TRAIL AND 1300 FT ABOVE US. THAT WAS THE CLOSEST THE 2 ACFT CAME TO EACH OTHER THROUGHOUT OUR APCH AND LNDG. GND THEN ADVISED US TO CALL BAQ APCH, WHICH WE DID. TO OUR SURPRISE BAQ APCH TOLD US THE OTHER ACFT HAD FILED A NEAR MISS.
