Narrative:

After work had been done on the aircraft, I was told there was a small leak in the right main gear actuator. This not being the aircraft's home base, myself and the maintenance shop felt the aircraft would be safe to fly as long as I left the gear down because there would be no pressure on the actuator. I flew the plane to rsw to have the rest of the repairs done with no problem. After thinking over what I did, I feel I should have gotten a ferry permit and let the FAA know what I was doing.

Title: A C500 FLC DEPARTED FOR A MAINT BASE WITH A KNOWN HYD PROB THAT REQUIRED THEM TO FLY WITH THE LNDG GEAR EXTENDED. THE RPTR CORRECTLY BELIEVES THAT HE SHOULD HAVE OBTAINED A FERRY PERMIT BEFOREHAND.
