Narrative:

During a flight from hot to ukf, a generator came offline. The generator was returned to operation as per the checklist. After the situation was dealt with, a discussion arose between myself and the PF as to what would cause the prior situation. In our eagerness to discuss the issue, we apparently missed a communications handoff from ZID to ZTL. After about 15-20 mins passed, we contacted ZTL and advised them of our position, level at FL290, and requested a descent into ukf. This we did with no further incident during the remainder of the flight.
