Narrative:

I was flying the minks arrival into lga. I understood a clearance to descend to 7000 ft from 11000 ft. I selected the altitude in 'altitude' window, selected flight level change and was going to select altitude in FMS. The aircraft departed 11000 ft and I was confirming the change with the first officer. He said he didn't think we got a new altitude. Thus, I immediately climbed back to 11000 ft. The lowest altitude noted was 10500 ft. While trying to confirm the altitude change, approach issued clearance to 7000 ft. Due to the traffic and numerous radio calls, we could not confirm whether that was the second clearance received. We had no traffic conflict on TCASII.

Title: A B767-300 PIC DSNDS OUT OF 11000 FT FOR 7000 FT BEFORE HE COORDINATES CONFIRMATION WITH HIS FO. THE FO SAID HE DIDN'T HEAR THAT CLRNC, SO PIC CLBS BACK AS ATC THEN ISSUES CLRNC FOR 7000 FT.

Narrative: I WAS FLYING THE MINKS ARR INTO LGA. I UNDERSTOOD A CLRNC TO DSND TO 7000 FT FROM 11000 FT. I SELECTED THE ALT IN 'ALT' WINDOW, SELECTED FLT LEVEL CHANGE AND WAS GOING TO SELECT ALT IN FMS. THE ACFT DEPARTED 11000 FT AND I WAS CONFIRMING THE CHANGE WITH THE FO. HE SAID HE DIDN'T THINK WE GOT A NEW ALT. THUS, I IMMEDIATELY CLBED BACK TO 11000 FT. THE LOWEST ALT NOTED WAS 10500 FT. WHILE TRYING TO CONFIRM THE ALT CHANGE, APCH ISSUED CLRNC TO 7000 FT. DUE TO THE TFC AND NUMEROUS RADIO CALLS, WE COULD NOT CONFIRM WHETHER THAT WAS THE SECOND CLRNC RECEIVED. WE HAD NO TFC CONFLICT ON TCASII.
