Narrative:

At slc, controller gave a 070 degree vector to base turn from a tight downwind for ILS runway 34L. I was descending through 8500 ft for 8000 ft. At the same time of the 070 degree vector, controller gave descent to 7000 ft, and report field in sight. Still on autoplt, I saw a runway but it was runway 34R. Captain said we were going to overshoot, so I disconnected autoplt and increased bank when I finally saw runway 34L. Overshoot was about 2000 ft and there was a B737 on final for runway 34R. Tight downwind pattern contributed.

Title: A B757 OVERSHOT ITS TURN ONTO FINAL AFTER A VECTORED DOWNWIND AND TURN TO BASE AT SLC. FO PF MAKING A L TURN FOR APCH.

Narrative: AT SLC, CTLR GAVE A 070 DEG VECTOR TO BASE TURN FROM A TIGHT DOWNWIND FOR ILS RWY 34L. I WAS DSNDING THROUGH 8500 FT FOR 8000 FT. AT THE SAME TIME OF THE 070 DEG VECTOR, CTLR GAVE DSCNT TO 7000 FT, AND RPT FIELD IN SIGHT. STILL ON AUTOPLT, I SAW A RWY BUT IT WAS RWY 34R. CAPT SAID WE WERE GOING TO OVERSHOOT, SO I DISCONNECTED AUTOPLT AND INCREASED BANK WHEN I FINALLY SAW RWY 34L. OVERSHOOT WAS ABOUT 2000 FT AND THERE WAS A B737 ON FINAL FOR RWY 34R. TIGHT DOWNWIND PATTERN CONTRIBUTED.
