Narrative:

Discovered right engine anti-ice lip burning, shut off engine bleeds and anti-ice. Extinguished fire, declared emergency and diverted to mht without further incident. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was a saab 340B and the right engine inlet lip is an electrically heated composite material and this surface was burning. The reporter said maintenance may have replaced the entire composite lip and is not certain if any control unit was involved. The reporter stated at no time did any circuit breaker trip for this circuit.

Title: A SAAB 340B IN CLB AT 6000 FT DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED DUE TO THE R ENG INLET ANTI-ICE LIP BURNING.

Narrative: DISCOVERED R ENG ANTI-ICE LIP BURNING, SHUT OFF ENG BLEEDS AND ANTI-ICE. EXTINGUISHED FIRE, DECLARED EMER AND DIVERTED TO MHT WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT WAS A SAAB 340B AND THE R ENG INLET LIP IS AN ELECTRICALLY HEATED COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND THIS SURFACE WAS BURNING. THE RPTR SAID MAINT MAY HAVE REPLACED THE ENTIRE COMPOSITE LIP AND IS NOT CERTAIN IF ANY CTL UNIT WAS INVOLVED. THE RPTR STATED AT NO TIME DID ANY CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIP FOR THIS CIRCUIT.
