Narrative:

North/south runway, west wind and gusting. Velocity of gust unknown. Departure by aircraft from south to north. At the moment to pick up tail on takeoff roll, wind shifted to south giving tailwind and picking up tail put nose in ground. No hurt people. Broken propeller and damaged heat box and damaged cowl. Wind sock on field indicated 90 degree wind. Sock located 10 ft off ground and some trees around it. Another sock not noticed by pilot, but pointed out later, was on east side of field and on top of hangar, say 30 ft off ground. It was suggested by field manager that the pilot should have looked at both socks to evaluate favoring conditions.
