Narrative:

Aircraft was being vectored and descending for localizer runway 27 approach at about 8500 ft and slowing to vzf (flap speed). Flaps 1 degree were selected and immediately an EICAS message 'leading edge slat disagree' appeared. Captain was flying and directed first officer to conduct communication procedure. Captain requested 9000 ft and vectors from ATC and advised them of problem. Aircraft was leveled at 9000 ft and speed at vzf. After reviewing communication procedure, first officer contacted maintenance and dispatch to advise of situation and see if a direct was advisable. Captain briefed lead cabin attendant on situation and to prepare cabin for normal landing. Maintenance and dispatch concurred san ok for landing. Communication procedure was completed. Emergency was declared with ATC. Approach and landing were uneventful. Aircraft taxied to gate with flaps in landing confign. This is one of many irregular sits practiced in simulator training. This training background made dealing with the real world scenario much less stressful and instilled more confidence in a successful outcome.

Title: AN ACR B757 FLC HAD A 'LEADING EDGE SLAT DISAGREE' WARNING ILLUMINATE. THEY ACCOMPLISHED THE CHKLIST PROC AND MADE A LNDG AFTER COORD WITH THE CABIN ATTENDANTS AND BRIEFING THE PAX.

Narrative: ACFT WAS BEING VECTORED AND DSNDING FOR LOC RWY 27 APCH AT ABOUT 8500 FT AND SLOWING TO VZF (FLAP SPD). FLAPS 1 DEG WERE SELECTED AND IMMEDIATELY AN EICAS MESSAGE 'LEADING EDGE SLAT DISAGREE' APPEARED. CAPT WAS FLYING AND DIRECTED FO TO CONDUCT COM PROC. CAPT REQUESTED 9000 FT AND VECTORS FROM ATC AND ADVISED THEM OF PROB. ACFT WAS LEVELED AT 9000 FT AND SPD AT VZF. MAINT AND DISPATCH CONCURRED SAN OK FOR LNDG. COM PROC WAS COMPLETED. EMER WAS DECLARED WITH ATC. APCH AND LNDG WERE UNEVENTFUL. ACFT TAXIED TO GATE WITH FLAPS IN LNDG CONFIGN.
