Narrative:

Deviated off of the required 158 degree radial for a short distance because I misread the radial as 185 degrees. Briefed 185 degrees at the gate, before takeoff and again questioned the first officer during takeoff if 185 degrees was correct. Track and FMS did not seem right. Returned to the correct radial almost immediately after picking up a 185 degree heading -- never did intercept the 185 degree. We were back on the 158 degree within 3 DME. We possibly exceeded the noise corridor. We continually xchk each other and an obvious mistake was immediately corrected.

Title: B757 PIC MISREAD, BRIEFED AND INITIALLY FLEW 185 DEG VICE 158 DEG SID RADIAL.

Narrative: DEVIATED OFF OF THE REQUIRED 158 DEG RADIAL FOR A SHORT DISTANCE BECAUSE I MISREAD THE RADIAL AS 185 DEGS. BRIEFED 185 DEGS AT THE GATE, BEFORE TKOF AND AGAIN QUESTIONED THE FO DURING TKOF IF 185 DEGS WAS CORRECT. TRACK AND FMS DID NOT SEEM RIGHT. RETURNED TO THE CORRECT RADIAL ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER PICKING UP A 185 DEG HDG -- NEVER DID INTERCEPT THE 185 DEG. WE WERE BACK ON THE 158 DEG WITHIN 3 DME. WE POSSIBLY EXCEEDED THE NOISE CORRIDOR. WE CONTINUALLY XCHK EACH OTHER AND AN OBVIOUS MISTAKE WAS IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED.
