Narrative:

ATC facility: mco tower. Location: landing mco. Arriving mco with winds reported 250 degrees at 22-25 KTS and gusts to 28 KTS made approach and unable to land account very strong xwinds and very strong gusts. Made 3 attempts with no success. Held in local area to allow winds and gusts to stabilize. Made another approach and still very rough and crosswind too much for aircraft although reported winds never did exceed limits. Other flts were landing although several did experience gars as a result of crosswind and gusty conditions. Diverted to mia waited for improvement and returned to land under still very strong xwinds. Pulled up station WX later and found reports of peak wind in several reports in excess of 30 KTS. Used mia as alternate as flight plan stated tpa altitude, which has only n-s runway confign and same wind problem. In over 20 yrs flying strongest winds and some of the worst conditions observed. Tower did report windshear advisory and even microbrust alerts with no convective activity in sight. Several flts landed, but understand other carrier B757 experienced similar difficulty and divert. Chalk up this to another experience.

Title: FLC OF B757 ENCOUNTER STRONG WIND GUSTS AND XWIND ON APCH AND AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS HOLDS IN LCL AREA. ON NEXT APCH WINDS ARE STILL TOO STRONG AND THEY DIVERT.

Narrative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
