Narrative:

We received no pre departure clearance over ACARS for our flight bwi-bos, because our ACARS was on MEL. First officer got clearance verbally from bwi clearance delivery, and said he did not read back the swann two departure SID. We understood and briefed our clearance as runway heading to 4000 ft MSL which we did. Bwi departure control advised us we were supposed to be on swann two departure. There was no immediate traffic conflict.
