Narrative:

Upon taxi out we tuned in ground control. The controller cleared aircraft in front of us for the 'orange' color coded taxi route. When we broke in the controller gave us 'taxiway U, runway 28, hold short of runway 23L.' the first officer read back 'roger the orange route.' the controller responded 'negative, I did not assign you the orange route.' but in essence the controller gave us the same thing as the orange route. The next 2 aircraft ready to taxi were given the 'orange' route. We queried the controller as to why we did not get the orange route even though everyone else was assigned it. The controller answered he just sat down and did not know why the last guy did not give the orange route. I would like to suggest when a new procedure is implemented that it applies to all aircraft and all controllers across the board for the sake of consistency.

Title: RPTR QUESTIONED WHY THEY DID NOT GET THE COLOR CODED TAXI RTE WHEN EVERYONE ELSE DID.

Narrative: UPON TAXI OUT WE TUNED IN GND CTL. THE CTLR CLRED ACFT IN FRONT OF US FOR THE 'ORANGE' COLOR CODED TAXI RTE. WHEN WE BROKE IN THE CTLR GAVE US 'TXWY U, RWY 28, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 23L.' THE FO READ BACK 'ROGER THE ORANGE RTE.' THE CTLR RESPONDED 'NEGATIVE, I DID NOT ASSIGN YOU THE ORANGE RTE.' BUT IN ESSENCE THE CTLR GAVE US THE SAME THING AS THE ORANGE RTE. THE NEXT 2 ACFT READY TO TAXI WERE GIVEN THE 'ORANGE' RTE. WE QUERIED THE CTLR AS TO WHY WE DID NOT GET THE ORANGE RTE EVEN THOUGH EVERYONE ELSE WAS ASSIGNED IT. THE CTLR ANSWERED HE JUST SAT DOWN AND DID NOT KNOW WHY THE LAST GUY DID NOT GIVE THE ORANGE RTE. I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST WHEN A NEW PROC IS IMPLEMENTED THAT IT APPLIES TO ALL ACFT AND ALL CTLRS ACROSS THE BOARD FOR THE SAKE OF CONSISTENCY.
