Narrative:

Essentially, we taxied, took off, and began our climb en route with the seatbelt sign off. A flight attendant called us about it and that's when we realized what had happened. Earlier, we had diverted to shv because of WX (and fuel) at dfw, our original destination. After refueling and completing our cockpit checks, we began to taxi, but then were advised by ground control of an ATC delay. We then stopped the aircraft, shut down, and turned the seatbelt sign off. Later, after receiving ATC clearance to depart, we started back up and began taxiing. At no time did we reread the before start checklist, and as a result, the seatbelt sign was left off until we were asked about it during our climb out.

Title: A B757 TOOK OFF WITH THE CABIN FASTEN SEAT BELT SIGN UNLIGHTED DUE TO THE FAILURE TO PERFORM THE ENG START CHKLIST COMPLETELY AFTER A GND HOLD.

Narrative: ESSENTIALLY, WE TAXIED, TOOK OFF, AND BEGAN OUR CLB ENRTE WITH THE SEATBELT SIGN OFF. A FLT ATTENDANT CALLED US ABOUT IT AND THAT'S WHEN WE REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. EARLIER, WE HAD DIVERTED TO SHV BECAUSE OF WX (AND FUEL) AT DFW, OUR ORIGINAL DEST. AFTER REFUELING AND COMPLETING OUR COCKPIT CHKS, WE BEGAN TO TAXI, BUT THEN WERE ADVISED BY GND CTL OF AN ATC DELAY. WE THEN STOPPED THE ACFT, SHUT DOWN, AND TURNED THE SEATBELT SIGN OFF. LATER, AFTER RECEIVING ATC CLRNC TO DEPART, WE STARTED BACK UP AND BEGAN TAXIING. AT NO TIME DID WE REREAD THE BEFORE START CHKLIST, AND AS A RESULT, THE SEATBELT SIGN WAS LEFT OFF UNTIL WE WERE ASKED ABOUT IT DURING OUR CLBOUT.
