Narrative:

We had just departed atl runway 26R, and, after being handed off to the departure controller on 125.0, we were just leveling off at 5000 ft when the controller told us to expedite our climb through 8000 ft. We questioned the controller because we believed we were supposed to level at 5000 ft, the controller said we should have received 10000 ft from clearance. We said ok, and expedited our climb through 8000 ft then continued on to 10000 ft. We may have missed an altitude of 10000 ft in our clearance and leveled off prematurely at 5000 ft. The controller questioned how we had received our clearance, but made no other mention of our altitude. We had maintained a sterile cockpit but I believe we may have missed a call or copied the clearance incorrectly. I believe a contributing factor was that, at the time of occurrence, we were in our 5TH day of work, all days had been a minimum of 12 hour duty days, and we had 25 hours of flight time in the preceding 5 days.

Title: FLC THOUGHT ASSIGNED ALT 5000 FT. DEP CTLR SAID THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN 10000 FT.

Narrative: WE HAD JUST DEPARTED ATL RWY 26R, AND, AFTER BEING HANDED OFF TO THE DEP CTLR ON 125.0, WE WERE JUST LEVELING OFF AT 5000 FT WHEN THE CTLR TOLD US TO EXPEDITE OUR CLB THROUGH 8000 FT. WE QUESTIONED THE CTLR BECAUSE WE BELIEVED WE WERE SUPPOSED TO LEVEL AT 5000 FT, THE CTLR SAID WE SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED 10000 FT FROM CLRNC. WE SAID OK, AND EXPEDITED OUR CLB THROUGH 8000 FT THEN CONTINUED ON TO 10000 FT. WE MAY HAVE MISSED AN ALT OF 10000 FT IN OUR CLRNC AND LEVELED OFF PREMATURELY AT 5000 FT. THE CTLR QUESTIONED HOW WE HAD RECEIVED OUR CLRNC, BUT MADE NO OTHER MENTION OF OUR ALT. WE HAD MAINTAINED A STERILE COCKPIT BUT I BELIEVE WE MAY HAVE MISSED A CALL OR COPIED THE CLRNC INCORRECTLY. I BELIEVE A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS THAT, AT THE TIME OF OCCURRENCE, WE WERE IN OUR 5TH DAY OF WORK, ALL DAYS HAD BEEN A MINIMUM OF 12 HR DUTY DAYS, AND WE HAD 25 HRS OF FLT TIME IN THE PRECEDING 5 DAYS.
