Narrative:

Level at 10000 ft with approach to mem, TA on TCASII alerted us of a target approximately 5 mi away and 100 ft below our aircraft. RA sounded seconds later and we began a climbing maneuver as depicted by TCASII. While in this climb, we made visual contact of aircraft (large single engine (caravan?)). Captain made verbal contact with controller who stated that 'it might be an errant mode C.' the captain informed him of this visual contact. Top of maneuver was about 11000 ft and we returned to 10000 ft after conflict was over. Flight attendants reported not being aware of the incident. Company mechanics in mem were directed to remove the flight recorder per maintenance control. The conflicting aircraft in my opinion was in fact at 10000 ft as depicted by TCASII. There were no abrupt control changes by me while hand flying the resolution.
