Narrative:

We were on a descent vector from bos approach. The vector was not necessary as we were able to descend on a heading just outside the final approach, and cross the final fix properly configured, on course, GS and airspeed. When we questioned the controller, he became angry, stating we couldn't descend 'worth beans.' we were then given a vector for the final approach course and cleared for the approach. Subsequently, after a harassment call from ATC we were given a crossing restr not listed on the approach plate, for no apparent reason. We were approximately 15 mi from the airport at 3000 ft, well able to make our approach. To be given a non standard non published altitude restr at the last min was not necessary, but merely harassment by ATC. We missed the restr by several hundred feet.

Title: AN ACR DC8 FREIGHT FLC WAS GIVEN AN ALT RESTR THAT WAS NOT LISTED ON THEIR APCH PLATE AND THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO ACCOMPLISH. THIS WAS DONE AFTER THEY QUESTIONED THE PURPOSE OF A VECTOR BY THE APCH CTLR WHO THEN GAVE AN INTEMPERATE RESPONSE.

Narrative: WE WERE ON A DSCNT VECTOR FROM BOS APCH. THE VECTOR WAS NOT NECESSARY AS WE WERE ABLE TO DSND ON A HEADING JUST OUTSIDE THE FINAL APCH, AND CROSS THE FINAL FIX PROPERLY CONFIGURED, ON COURSE, GS AND AIRSPD. WHEN WE QUESTIONED THE CTLR, HE BECAME ANGRY, STATING WE COULDN'T DSND 'WORTH BEANS.' WE WERE THEN GIVEN A VECTOR FOR THE FINAL APCH COURSE AND CLRED FOR THE APCH. SUBSEQUENTLY, AFTER A HARASSMENT CALL FROM ATC WE WERE GIVEN A XING RESTR NOT LISTED ON THE APCH PLATE, FOR NO APPARENT REASON. WE WERE APPROX 15 MI FROM THE ARPT AT 3000 FT, WELL ABLE TO MAKE OUR APCH. TO BE GIVEN A NON STANDARD NON PUBLISHED ALT RESTR AT THE LAST MIN WAS NOT NECESSARY, BUT MERELY HARASSMENT BY ATC. WE MISSED THE RESTR BY SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET.
