Narrative:
Took off on runway 25R at lax, lax-ogg. Climbing to 13000 ft, just beyond coastline, we got a traffic alert on an aircraft approximately 500 ft beneath us. At that time socal departure said 'climb to 13000 ft.' we were climbing at +/-3000 FPM. It seems socal is crossing traffic with minimum of separation.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: DC10-10 ACFT IN CLB HAD TCASII ON ACFT BELOW, RPTR SO ESTIMATES 500 FT BELOW. DEP CTLR TELLS FLC TO CLB, BUT THEY ARE ALREADY AT MAX CLB.
Narrative: TOOK OFF ON RWY 25R AT LAX, LAX-OGG. CLBING TO 13000 FT, JUST BEYOND COASTLINE, WE GOT A TFC ALERT ON AN ACFT APPROX 500 FT BENEATH US. AT THAT TIME SOCAL DEP SAID 'CLB TO 13000 FT.' WE WERE CLBING AT +/-3000 FPM. IT SEEMS SOCAL IS XING TFC WITH MINIMUM OF SEPARATION.
