Narrative:

I, as captain of the aircraft, was taxiing after our landing at ont. Some issues arose on the visual approach to ont airport that both myself and the first officer were still focused on after landing (ie, we were somewhat distracted after landing). We landed on runway 8L, out of our normal routine of using the runways 26. Tower issued a 'hold short of runway 8R' clearance. I exited runway 8L at taxiway U, thought I would cross a parallel taxiway prior to finding the hold short line for runway 8R, then realized I had just started to cross the runway 8R hold short line (I saw it at the same time the first officer said 'stop,' and that tower said 'hold your position'). An aircraft was rolling out on runway 8R. There were no amber lights embedded in the hold short line. Contributing factors -- distraction from approach events, night and using abnormal runway, expecting to cross a parallel taxiway as a cue to where I was (but the taxiway ended half-way back on the runways), short taxi distance between runways 8L and 8R, no amber lights in hold short line. Supplemental information from acn 387881: this was day 5 of our schedule and we were both tired and distracted by our fatigue enough to comment on it. Our schedules have recently changed from 4 on 3 off to 5 on 2 off and this transition was hitting us hard. It would have helped our position awareness to review the airport diagram prior to landing once we knew of the non-standard runway 8L approach. Since we usually land on runway 26R, we are not familiar with the txwys at the far end of the runway.

Title: FLC OF COMMUTER ACFT ARE CLRED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY PARALLEL TO THEIR LNDG. UNFAMILIAR WITH THE TXWYS THEY CROSS THE HOLD LINE, CATCH THE ERROR AND STOP SUDDENLY AS CTLR TELLS THEM TO HOLD POS.

Narrative: I, AS CAPT OF THE ACFT, WAS TAXIING AFTER OUR LNDG AT ONT. SOME ISSUES AROSE ON THE VISUAL APCH TO ONT ARPT THAT BOTH MYSELF AND THE FO WERE STILL FOCUSED ON AFTER LNDG (IE, WE WERE SOMEWHAT DISTRACTED AFTER LNDG). WE LANDED ON RWY 8L, OUT OF OUR NORMAL ROUTINE OF USING THE RWYS 26. TWR ISSUED A 'HOLD SHORT OF RWY 8R' CLRNC. I EXITED RWY 8L AT TXWY U, THOUGHT I WOULD CROSS A PARALLEL TXWY PRIOR TO FINDING THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 8R, THEN REALIZED I HAD JUST STARTED TO CROSS THE RWY 8R HOLD SHORT LINE (I SAW IT AT THE SAME TIME THE FO SAID 'STOP,' AND THAT TWR SAID 'HOLD YOUR POS'). AN ACFT WAS ROLLING OUT ON RWY 8R. THERE WERE NO AMBER LIGHTS EMBEDDED IN THE HOLD SHORT LINE. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS -- DISTR FROM APCH EVENTS, NIGHT AND USING ABNORMAL RWY, EXPECTING TO CROSS A PARALLEL TXWY AS A CUE TO WHERE I WAS (BUT THE TXWY ENDED HALF-WAY BACK ON THE RWYS), SHORT TAXI DISTANCE BTWN RWYS 8L AND 8R, NO AMBER LIGHTS IN HOLD SHORT LINE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 387881: THIS WAS DAY 5 OF OUR SCHEDULE AND WE WERE BOTH TIRED AND DISTRACTED BY OUR FATIGUE ENOUGH TO COMMENT ON IT. OUR SCHEDULES HAVE RECENTLY CHANGED FROM 4 ON 3 OFF TO 5 ON 2 OFF AND THIS TRANSITION WAS HITTING US HARD. IT WOULD HAVE HELPED OUR POS AWARENESS TO REVIEW THE ARPT DIAGRAM PRIOR TO LNDG ONCE WE KNEW OF THE NON-STANDARD RWY 8L APCH. SINCE WE USUALLY LAND ON RWY 26R, WE ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE TXWYS AT THE FAR END OF THE RWY.
