Narrative:

During an engine change on air carrier aircraft, #1 engine installed. Found a pneumatic air leak in installed bleed air duct and instructed mechanic to repair same. When air carrier maintenance supervisor xyz said he would sign off the air leak. Concerned because air leak in area of pylon skirt fire detector system and may cause false fire indication.

Title: A DC9-50 DURING #1 ENG CHANGE, A PNEUMATIC LEAK FOUND BY THE ENG CHANGE INSPECTOR WAS SIGNED OFF BY THE MAINT SUPVR AS OK FOR SVC.

Narrative: DURING AN ENG CHANGE ON ACR ACFT, #1 ENG INSTALLED. FOUND A PNEUMATIC AIR LEAK IN INSTALLED BLEED AIR DUCT AND INSTRUCTED MECH TO REPAIR SAME. WHEN ACR MAINT SUPVR XYZ SAID HE WOULD SIGN OFF THE AIR LEAK. CONCERNED BECAUSE AIR LEAK IN AREA OF PYLON SKIRT FIRE DETECTOR SYS AND MAY CAUSE FALSE FIRE INDICATION.
