Narrative:

ATC facility: lhr tower. Location: departure end of runway 27R on 274 degree heading. Proceeded with normal takeoff from lhr. After lift-off PF called gear up. While gear was retracting aircraft struck approximately half dozen birds on first officer and captain's windshield and surrounding areas. Immediately monitored engine instruments and noticed no abnormal indications. Radar operated normally and no other abnormal flight characteristics of any kind were apparent. I elected to continue flight to jfk based on these observations and the entire flight remained uneventful.
