Narrative:

Btv approach cleared us for localizer runway 15 GS out, cross marker at 2000 ft. Also advised that aircraft were picking up runway visually at marker. We then switched over to tower frequency. We visually picked up runway prior to marker and started descent. At 1500 ft MSL tower advised us to maintain present altitude until the marker. Normal landing was accomplished.

Title: FLC OF A B737-300 FAILED TO MAINTAIN APCH ASSIGNED ALT PRIOR TO THE LOC MARKER AFTER BEING CLRED FOR THE APCH AND HAVING THE RWY IN SIGHT.

Narrative: BTV APCH CLRED US FOR LOC RWY 15 GS OUT, CROSS MARKER AT 2000 FT. ALSO ADVISED THAT ACFT WERE PICKING UP RWY VISUALLY AT MARKER. WE THEN SWITCHED OVER TO TWR FREQ. WE VISUALLY PICKED UP RWY PRIOR TO MARKER AND STARTED DSCNT. AT 1500 FT MSL TWR ADVISED US TO MAINTAIN PRESENT ALT UNTIL THE MARKER. NORMAL LNDG WAS ACCOMPLISHED.
