Narrative:

Took radar handoff on air carrier X (MD11) from fdy area descending sebound to cmh. Took radar handoff on air carrier Y (E120) from ZID, northeast of rod, proceeding nebound to cle at 17000 ft. I ran the vector lines out, and in my judgement had more than adequate separation between these 2 aircraft. As air carrier X was passing air carrier Y's 12 O'clock position, I issued traffic at 12 O'clock position and 7 mi, descending to 10000 ft. With the speed difference and flight path of the aircraft, I assumed this would be closest proximity, air carrier Y passed 4 1/2 mi behind the air carrier X with 500 ft separation.

Title: ARTCC RADAR CTLR DSNDED AN ACR MD11 THROUGH THE ALT OF AN ACR E120 WITH LTSS.

Narrative: TOOK RADAR HDOF ON ACR X (MD11) FROM FDY AREA DSNDING SEBOUND TO CMH. TOOK RADAR HDOF ON ACR Y (E120) FROM ZID, NE OF ROD, PROCEEDING NEBOUND TO CLE AT 17000 FT. I RAN THE VECTOR LINES OUT, AND IN MY JUDGEMENT HAD MORE THAN ADEQUATE SEPARATION BTWN THESE 2 ACFT. AS ACR X WAS PASSING ACR Y'S 12 O'CLOCK POS, I ISSUED TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK POS AND 7 MI, DSNDING TO 10000 FT. WITH THE SPD DIFFERENCE AND FLT PATH OF THE ACFT, I ASSUMED THIS WOULD BE CLOSEST PROX, ACR Y PASSED 4 1/2 MI BEHIND THE ACR X WITH 500 FT SEPARATION.
