Narrative:

After extending landing gear for landing, nose gear indicated unsafe. After completing alternate gear extension checklist nose gear still indicated unsafe. We declared an emergency and made a normal landing rolling straight ahead and had gear pinned before moving aircraft. The gear was fully down and no damage occurred. When completing the alternate gear extension checklist we left out the step of putting the gear handle to down -- it was left in the 'off' position. This resulted in no nose gear steering on landing. No damage occurred but we had to be towed off runway. Once gear lever was placed 'down' from off all system functioned ok -- except nose gear light was still out due to a bad socket. I feel my CRM was poor and I should not have missed any checklist items. Allowed myself to rush.

Title: FLC OF B757 HAS RED NOSE GEAR UNSAFE INDICATION AFTER GEAR EXTENSION. EMER DECLARED AND SUCCESSFUL LNDG. ALTERNATE GEAR EXTENSION CHKLIST NOT COMPLETED PROPERLY.

Narrative: AFTER EXTENDING LNDG GEAR FOR LNDG, NOSE GEAR INDICATED UNSAFE. AFTER COMPLETING ALTERNATE GEAR EXTENSION CHKLIST NOSE GEAR STILL INDICATED UNSAFE. WE DECLARED AN EMER AND MADE A NORMAL LNDG ROLLING STRAIGHT AHEAD AND HAD GEAR PINNED BEFORE MOVING ACFT. THE GEAR WAS FULLY DOWN AND NO DAMAGE OCCURRED. WHEN COMPLETING THE ALTERNATE GEAR EXTENSION CHKLIST WE LEFT OUT THE STEP OF PUTTING THE GEAR HANDLE TO DOWN -- IT WAS LEFT IN THE 'OFF' POS. THIS RESULTED IN NO NOSE GEAR STEERING ON LNDG. NO DAMAGE OCCURRED BUT WE HAD TO BE TOWED OFF RWY. ONCE GEAR LEVER WAS PLACED 'DOWN' FROM OFF ALL SYS FUNCTIONED OK -- EXCEPT NOSE GEAR LIGHT WAS STILL OUT DUE TO A BAD SOCKET. I FEEL MY CRM WAS POOR AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE MISSED ANY CHKLIST ITEMS. ALLOWED MYSELF TO RUSH.
