Narrative:

While on first functional test flight following heavy C maintenance overhaul, the landing gear was selected to the down position. The left main gear indicated not down and locked. The red unsafe light on, the green down and locked light was not illuminated, and the red gear door light was on. Performed abnormal and emergency procedures, declared an emergency. Notified maintenance operations control that visual inspection showed gear not fully extended. Landed without further incident. Stopped aircraft on runway, and turned aircraft over to maintenance.

Title: THE L MAIN GEAR FAILS TO FULLY EXTEND ON A B727 DURING A CHK C FLT TEST. EMER DECLARED WITH APCH CTLR AND EMER LNDG PERFORMED.

Narrative: WHILE ON FIRST FUNCTIONAL TEST FLT FOLLOWING HVY C MAINT OVERHAUL, THE LNDG GEAR WAS SELECTED TO THE DOWN POS. THE L MAIN GEAR INDICATED NOT DOWN AND LOCKED. THE RED UNSAFE LIGHT ON, THE GREEN DOWN AND LOCKED LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED, AND THE RED GEAR DOOR LIGHT WAS ON. PERFORMED ABNORMAL AND EMER PROCS, DECLARED AN EMER. NOTIFIED MAINT OPS CTL THAT VISUAL INSPECTION SHOWED GEAR NOT FULLY EXTENDED. LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. STOPPED ACFT ON RWY, AND TURNED ACFT OVER TO MAINT.
