Narrative:

Taxiing for takeoff, autobrake system would not arm. Taxied back to gate for maintenance. While switching power from engine generators to APU, autobrake system 'fixed' itself. Takeoff was accomplished with no maintenance action performed, all system operating normally.

Title: CAPT OF AN MD88 RETURNED TO THE GATE AFTER TAXI OUT BECAUSE AUTOBRAKE WOULD NOT ARM. AFTER RETURN TO GATE, THE ELECTRICAL PWR WAS TRANSFERRED FROM THE ENG GENERATOR TO THE APU, AUTOBRAKE WORKED NORMALLY. SUBSEQUENT TKOF WAS MADE WITH ALL SYS WORKING. THERE WAS NO MAINT ACTION PERFORMED.
