Narrative:

The captain, flight attendant and I were sitting in the airplane in the middle of a 2 hour delay. No passenger on board (we were waiting for a part to be flown down and installed by maintenance). The captain went into the terminal to get some food. When he was still in the terminal, the ground crew, including the station manager, entered the aircraft and said they were going to tow it, and asked for my help. I said no, they'd have to wait for the captain. The manager then said, ok, we will do it, just release the parking brake. I found this acceptable since crew assistance is not required for towing. I then exited the cockpit and closed the door (the flight attendant and I remained on board since it was raining). During the tow, the ground crew misjudged and the right wing brushed against the jetway, resulting in considerable damage to the wingtip. I was not involved in the tow process as I was not even sitting in the cockpit and had previously stated that it would be, in its entirety, a ground crew operation.

Title: THE R WING OF A BAE 4100 BA41 STRUCK JETWAY DURING TOWING THE ACFT BY GND PERSONNEL. THE R WING WAS DAMAGED. THE FLC WERE NOT INVOLVED WITH THE TOWING OP.

Narrative: THE CAPT, FLT ATTENDANT AND I WERE SITTING IN THE AIRPLANE IN THE MIDDLE OF A 2 HR DELAY. NO PAX ON BOARD (WE WERE WAITING FOR A PART TO BE FLOWN DOWN AND INSTALLED BY MAINT). THE CAPT WENT INTO THE TERMINAL TO GET SOME FOOD. WHEN HE WAS STILL IN THE TERMINAL, THE GND CREW, INCLUDING THE STATION MGR, ENTERED THE ACFT AND SAID THEY WERE GOING TO TOW IT, AND ASKED FOR MY HELP. I SAID NO, THEY'D HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE CAPT. THE MGR THEN SAID, OK, WE WILL DO IT, JUST RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE. I FOUND THIS ACCEPTABLE SINCE CREW ASSISTANCE IS NOT REQUIRED FOR TOWING. I THEN EXITED THE COCKPIT AND CLOSED THE DOOR (THE FLT ATTENDANT AND I REMAINED ON BOARD SINCE IT WAS RAINING). DURING THE TOW, THE GND CREW MISJUDGED AND THE R WING BRUSHED AGAINST THE JETWAY, RESULTING IN CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE WINGTIP. I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE TOW PROCESS AS I WAS NOT EVEN SITTING IN THE COCKPIT AND HAD PREVIOUSLY STATED THAT IT WOULD BE, IN ITS ENTIRETY, A GND CREW OP.
