Narrative:
TCASII TA alerted us to traffic problem. Both pilots searched visually for traffic. No visual made. RA to climb. Autoplt off, started a big climb, then found traffic visually. Slow climb autoplt on. Missed by 500 ft and 500 ft. Told ATC about it. Note: flight had FAA line check inspector on board.
