Narrative:

ATC facility: ZAU. Location: south of rbs, FL330. After deviating by a storm on the other side, center denied a turn to bna to avoid the anvil of the storm. On a heading of 165 degrees they said they would need us to turn to the right for traffic. We said we would be unable to turn to the right as that would have put us right into the anvil. The controller then said turn right to a 180 degree heading. Again, we responded we would be unable. He said fine, I just needed that on the tape. He then turned a company aircraft and told us to maintain our heading. There were no altdevs and we had the company in sight at 10+ mi showing on the TCASII.

Title: PIC OF F100 REFUSES NEWLY ASSIGNED HDG AFTER BEING ON A VECTOR OF 165 DEGS AROUND A TSTM. ACFT WAS NOT YET CLR OF ANVIL AREA. CTLR THEN GOT HIS REFUSAL ON TAPE AND THEN HAD THE OTHER ACFT NEARBY ALTER HIS HDG SO ACFT X COULD STAY ON THE 165 DEG HDG.

Narrative: ATC FACILITY: ZAU. LOCATION: S OF RBS, FL330. AFTER DEVIATING BY A STORM ON THE OTHER SIDE, CTR DENIED A TURN TO BNA TO AVOID THE ANVIL OF THE STORM. ON A HDG OF 165 DEGS THEY SAID THEY WOULD NEED US TO TURN TO THE R FOR TFC. WE SAID WE WOULD BE UNABLE TO TURN TO THE R AS THAT WOULD HAVE PUT US RIGHT INTO THE ANVIL. THE CTLR THEN SAID TURN R TO A 180 DEG HDG. AGAIN, WE RESPONDED WE WOULD BE UNABLE. HE SAID FINE, I JUST NEEDED THAT ON THE TAPE. HE THEN TURNED A COMPANY ACFT AND TOLD US TO MAINTAIN OUR HDG. THERE WERE NO ALTDEVS AND WE HAD THE COMPANY IN SIGHT AT 10+ MI SHOWING ON THE TCASII.
