Narrative:

While taxiing to runway 16R at rno, I noticed that a DC9 was holding short adjacent to the runway at the overrun entrance. Upon contacting tower, we were asked if we were 'ready to go.' we reported that we were ready, and were cleared for takeoff, runway 16R. As we entered the runway at the threshold, tower asked if we wanted to takeoff from our present position. I replied that we would, and we were clear to takeoff from that position. (The runway threshold.) did not utilize overrun since runway is approximately 11000 ft.
