Narrative:

We were given a descent and airspeed until short final, follow traffic ahead, and contact tower at final approach fix (non standard for las). We complied with all of the clearance except contact tower. At the fix we were trying to slow and configure. We were high and fast per ATC needs. The canyon tours were going beneath us. For myself I think being more diligent in stating 'cleared to land' or 'cleared to only continue approach' at the '1000 ft call,' will help eliminate the occurrence from happening again.

Title: AN ACR B737 FLC LANDED WITHOUT AUTH FROM THE TWR. THEY STATE THAT THEY WERE DISTRACTED BY TFC AND TASKS.

Narrative: WE WERE GIVEN A DSCNT AND AIRSPD UNTIL SHORT FINAL, FOLLOW TFC AHEAD, AND CONTACT TWR AT FINAL APCH FIX (NON STANDARD FOR LAS). WE COMPLIED WITH ALL OF THE CLRNC EXCEPT CONTACT TWR. AT THE FIX WE WERE TRYING TO SLOW AND CONFIGURE. WE WERE HIGH AND FAST PER ATC NEEDS. THE CANYON TOURS WERE GOING BENEATH US. FOR MYSELF I THINK BEING MORE DILIGENT IN STATING 'CLRED TO LAND' OR 'CLRED TO ONLY CONTINUE APCH' AT THE '1000 FT CALL,' WILL HELP ELIMINATE THE OCCURRENCE FROM HAPPENING AGAIN.
