Narrative:

Tower said they had a low altitude alert. I mentioned that I was ground contact. Tower said do not descend any lower unless I had the field in sight. I did not have the field in sight and proceeded inbound and at the 2.4 DME started on down to 660 ft MSL, shortly after, saw the runway and landed. When on an approach and doing what one can -- I find it very interesting that a tower should make such statements.

Narrative: TWR SAID THEY HAD A LOW ALT ALERT. I MENTIONED THAT I WAS GND CONTACT. TWR SAID DO NOT DSND ANY LOWER UNLESS I HAD THE FIELD IN SIGHT. I DID NOT HAVE THE FIELD IN SIGHT AND PROCEEDED INBOUND AND AT THE 2.4 DME STARTED ON DOWN TO 660 FT MSL, SHORTLY AFTER, SAW THE RWY AND LANDED. WHEN ON AN APCH AND DOING WHAT ONE CAN -- I FIND IT VERY INTERESTING THAT A TWR SHOULD MAKE SUCH STATEMENTS.
