Narrative:

Departed allegheny county airport approximately XX00 EDT to pittsburgh, PA, and then northwards to 2500 ft MSL. After flying to the point where I believed I was clear of the pittsburgh class B airspace I began to climb to cruising altitude. I was using the pittsburgh terminal area chart. During the climb, I realized I had misread the chart. Reference to the montour VOR/DME confirmed I was in the outer ring of the class B airspace. Then I descended below the floor of the airspace and continued northward.

Title: PLT OF AN SMA SEL INADVERTENTLY CLBED INTO CLASS B AIRSPACE DURING DEP FROM AN UNDERLYING ARPT. AFTER REFERRING TO THE TERMINAL AREA CHART AND NOTICED THAT HE HAD ENTERED THE CTLED AIRSPACE, HE IMMEDIATELY DSNDED OUT OF IT.

Narrative: DEPARTED ALLEGHENY COUNTY ARPT APPROX XX00 EDT TO PITTSBURGH, PA, AND THEN NORTHWARDS TO 2500 FT MSL. AFTER FLYING TO THE POINT WHERE I BELIEVED I WAS CLR OF THE PITTSBURGH CLASS B AIRSPACE I BEGAN TO CLB TO CRUISING ALT. I WAS USING THE PITTSBURGH TERMINAL AREA CHART. DURING THE CLB, I REALIZED I HAD MISREAD THE CHART. REF TO THE MONTOUR VOR/DME CONFIRMED I WAS IN THE OUTER RING OF THE CLASS B AIRSPACE. THEN I DSNDED BELOW THE FLOOR OF THE AIRSPACE AND CONTINUED NORTHWARD.
