Narrative:

First flight of a week long trip. I was flying vacation coverage. Had not been to yhm in approximately 3 yrs, first officer had been flying to yhm all month. First officer's leg sdf-yhm, everything normal. Landed at XA01 local. Only aircraft moving on airport. After landing yhm runway 30R, tower told us to exit taxiway G, call ground on taxiway G. Called ground. He said taxi taxiway G, taxiway C to apron. We park on ramp straight in taxiway F (see enclosed map). As I crossed runway 30L, first officer said we park there and marshalling was waving me on in. Taxiway F makes a jog off taxiway C to ramp (see map). No way to go taxiway C to the ramp and to our parking spot. As I pulled into parking, ground said 'I did not clear you to the apron by taxiway F, I cleared you by taxiway C and you accepted the clearance.' first officer told ground we always come in taxiway X. Ground said 'we will forget about it this time, but on some dark foggy night, if you go bump into something do not expect me to shed any tears.' contributing factors: both first officer and myself had been up all night. Fatigue, relying too much on first officer to show me where we park since he had been flying the trip, marshalling waving me on in taxiway F. Next time, instead of assuming, I will ask!

Title: AN ACR B757 FREIGHTER FLC RPTED THAT THEY TAXIED THE WRONG RTE TO THEIR PARKING SPOT, IN PART, DUE TO PAST PRACTICE, CONFLICTING TFC, GND CREW SIGNALS AND AN IMPRACTICABLE ROUTING BY THE GND CTLR.

Narrative: FIRST FLT OF A WK LONG TRIP. I WAS FLYING VACATION COVERAGE. HAD NOT BEEN TO YHM IN APPROX 3 YRS, FO HAD BEEN FLYING TO YHM ALL MONTH. FO'S LEG SDF-YHM, EVERYTHING NORMAL. LANDED AT XA01 LCL. ONLY ACFT MOVING ON ARPT. AFTER LNDG YHM RWY 30R, TWR TOLD US TO EXIT TXWY G, CALL GND ON TXWY G. CALLED GND. HE SAID TAXI TXWY G, TXWY C TO APRON. WE PARK ON RAMP STRAIGHT IN TXWY F (SEE ENCLOSED MAP). AS I CROSSED RWY 30L, FO SAID WE PARK THERE AND MARSHALLING WAS WAVING ME ON IN. TXWY F MAKES A JOG OFF TXWY C TO RAMP (SEE MAP). NO WAY TO GO TXWY C TO THE RAMP AND TO OUR PARKING SPOT. AS I PULLED INTO PARKING, GND SAID 'I DID NOT CLR YOU TO THE APRON BY TXWY F, I CLRED YOU BY TXWY C AND YOU ACCEPTED THE CLRNC.' FO TOLD GND WE ALWAYS COME IN TXWY X. GND SAID 'WE WILL FORGET ABOUT IT THIS TIME, BUT ON SOME DARK FOGGY NIGHT, IF YOU GO BUMP INTO SOMETHING DO NOT EXPECT ME TO SHED ANY TEARS.' CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: BOTH FO AND MYSELF HAD BEEN UP ALL NIGHT. FATIGUE, RELYING TOO MUCH ON FO TO SHOW ME WHERE WE PARK SINCE HE HAD BEEN FLYING THE TRIP, MARSHALLING WAVING ME ON IN TXWY F. NEXT TIME, INSTEAD OF ASSUMING, I WILL ASK!
