Narrative:

During descent the cargo door annunciator illuminated. After performing the emergency action items I declared an emergency with ZSE. We continued for landing at the nearest suitable airport. The landing was without incident. Upon postflt inspection the cargo door was found secured. There was no aircraft or property damage. The flight terminated without incident. After discussing the situation with company maintenance it was determined the cargo door annunciator was inoperative and we deferred the system and continued operations per the MEL.
