Narrative:

Directional control lost. Recovered, but power not added to climb out. I was allowing friend to takeoff. Was not expecting tail to lift (planned 3 point takeoff). I didn't realize full power was not applied and aircraft reached flying speed but could not climb. Subsequently left runway, ground loop collapsed gear strut. Was a no excuse incident. My familiarity with aircraft may have caused me not to pay sufficient attention (out of character). Shouldn't have let friend try flying aircraft. Should have been more on top. Discussion regarding 3 point takeoff may have been a factor on lack of attention. Did fail to tell him to keep tail wheel down. Failure to notice full power not applied. Human factors: poor judgement. Not on top of situation. Because aircraft could reach fly speed, full power never applied. Note: accident has been reported far 91.13 -- while there was no intent to operate in a careless or reckless manner, I can't say it didn't happen. I must admit that far was violated but not intentionally.

Title: TAYLORCRAFT ACFT TKOF ROLL, PF LOST CTL OF ACFT, GND LOOPED IT AND COLLAPSED GEAR STRUT. RPTR PLT WAS LETTING FRIEND TAKE OFF, WHO NOT ONLY LOST CTL, BUT ALSO DIDN'T HAVE PROPER PWR SET.

Narrative: DIRECTIONAL CTL LOST. RECOVERED, BUT PWR NOT ADDED TO CLB OUT. I WAS ALLOWING FRIEND TO TKOF. WAS NOT EXPECTING TAIL TO LIFT (PLANNED 3 POINT TKOF). I DIDN'T REALIZE FULL PWR WAS NOT APPLIED AND ACFT REACHED FLYING SPD BUT COULD NOT CLB. SUBSEQUENTLY LEFT RWY, GND LOOP COLLAPSED GEAR STRUT. WAS A NO EXCUSE INCIDENT. MY FAMILIARITY WITH ACFT MAY HAVE CAUSED ME NOT TO PAY SUFFICIENT ATTN (OUT OF CHARACTER). SHOULDN'T HAVE LET FRIEND TRY FLYING ACFT. SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ON TOP. DISCUSSION REGARDING 3 POINT TKOF MAY HAVE BEEN A FACTOR ON LACK OF ATTN. DID FAIL TO TELL HIM TO KEEP TAIL WHEEL DOWN. FAILURE TO NOTICE FULL PWR NOT APPLIED. HUMAN FACTORS: POOR JUDGEMENT. NOT ON TOP OF SIT. BECAUSE ACFT COULD REACH FLY SPD, FULL PWR NEVER APPLIED. NOTE: ACCIDENT HAS BEEN RPTED FAR 91.13 -- WHILE THERE WAS NO INTENT TO OPERATE IN A CARELESS OR RECKLESS MANNER, I CAN'T SAY IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. I MUST ADMIT THAT FAR WAS VIOLATED BUT NOT INTENTIONALLY.
