Narrative:
I was flying civil air patrol, a C172 under an IFR flight plan from gpm to ads. WX was VMC. My last instruction from dallas regional approach was to fly a heading of 330 degrees and maintain an altitude of 3000 ft until I turned base for runway 15 at ads. My position was about 1/2 mi from ads and abeam of the runway 15 end, ie, I was on a 3000 ft high downwind for runway 15. My altitude was within 5-10 ft of my assigned altitude. At that time I observed a low-wing, single engine, probably 4 seat plane cross my path around 50 ft lower than my aircraft and maybe 200 ft ahead. The plane crossed from left to right. It was on a heading of approximately 360 degrees to 010 degrees. There were no TA's. I mentioned to dallas approach that a plane had passed very close to me. There was no reply. Note: I was in class B airspace. 3000 ft was the bottom of it. At approximately 2925-2950 ft the other plane was in addison airspace.

Title: A CIVIL AIR PATROL C172 HAS AN NMAC WITH AN UNIDENTED ACFT PASSING UNDER THE BASE OF THE DFW CLASS B AIRSPACE. ACFT Y WAS IN ADS ARPT CLASS D AIRSPACE, JUST 50 FT BELOW ACFT X. NO TA, NO COMMENT FROM DFW APCH CTLR.
