Narrative:

Departed palomar on alpha north departure. Climbed to 2500 ft along shoreline, crossed over top of L32 to enter downwind for right traffic runway 24. As we crossed airport nwbound, we observed the bonanza crossing sebound at our altitude. We heard the bonanza say on frequency, 'I suggest you use left traffic next time.' based upon flight planning and segmented circle, right traffic was appropriate. We circled one time to verify right traffic for runway 24.
