Narrative:

In iah (houston) pushback and taxi via taxiway 'wb' to runway 32R was normal. Delayed engine start was utilized and aircraft was pulled off into run-up pad at the end of runway 32R, for warm up of engine on delayed start. Tower cleared us for takeoff and we moved forward on a 310 degree heading and turned left on perpendicular taxiway on 230 degree heading. When aircraft was halfway on the runway 32R, I saw a B727 lined up for runway 32R at approximately 200 ft AGL. Since there was no taxiway across the runway, all I could do is stop. At that time, tower told the B727 to go around. Our takeoff clearance was canceled. The go around was executed and he was told to turn left to 270 degrees, vectors for runway 32L. The B727 flight crew then advised tower they were unable to use runway 32L and needed runway 32R. I am convinced the aircraft was lined up for our runway 32R because of his altitude and runway 32L threshold being located approximately 6000 ft further northwest. Subsequent takeoff and climb out were uneventful.

Title: MD88 ACFT, CLRED FOR TKOF. WHEN FLC TAXIED ONTO RWY THEY SAW A B727 ON SHORT FINAL FOR THE SAME RWY. TWR ORDERED ACFT TO GAR AND TO PLAN THE PARALLEL RWY, BUT THE OTHER FLC SAID THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO USE THAT SHORTER RWY.

Narrative: IN IAH (HOUSTON) PUSHBACK AND TAXI VIA TXWY 'WB' TO RWY 32R WAS NORMAL. DELAYED ENG START WAS UTILIZED AND ACFT WAS PULLED OFF INTO RUN-UP PAD AT THE END OF RWY 32R, FOR WARM UP OF ENG ON DELAYED START. TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF AND WE MOVED FORWARD ON A 310 DEG HDG AND TURNED L ON PERPENDICULAR TXWY ON 230 DEG HDG. WHEN ACFT WAS HALFWAY ON THE RWY 32R, I SAW A B727 LINED UP FOR RWY 32R AT APPROX 200 FT AGL. SINCE THERE WAS NO TXWY ACROSS THE RWY, ALL I COULD DO IS STOP. AT THAT TIME, TWR TOLD THE B727 TO GAR. OUR TKOF CLRNC WAS CANCELED. THE GAR WAS EXECUTED AND HE WAS TOLD TO TURN L TO 270 DEGS, VECTORS FOR RWY 32L. THE B727 FLC THEN ADVISED TWR THEY WERE UNABLE TO USE RWY 32L AND NEEDED RWY 32R. I AM CONVINCED THE ACFT WAS LINED UP FOR OUR RWY 32R BECAUSE OF HIS ALT AND RWY 32L THRESHOLD BEING LOCATED APPROX 6000 FT FURTHER NW. SUBSEQUENT TKOF AND CLBOUT WERE UNEVENTFUL.
