Narrative:

Holding for takeoff at the end of phx runway 26R we heard tower ask us if we could take an immediate takeoff. We said yes, and he cleared us into position and gave our call sign. Then he realized he was talking to us on the north side and he meant to call air carrier Y, not air carrier X. We had crossed the hold short bars and proceeded to taxi back behind the line and hold. A miscom between tower and the pilots of both aircraft. It is my opinion that going to one man in the phx tower during this time is unsafe.

Narrative: HOLDING FOR TKOF AT THE END OF PHX RWY 26R WE HEARD TWR ASK US IF WE COULD TAKE AN IMMEDIATE TKOF. WE SAID YES, AND HE CLRED US INTO POS AND GAVE OUR CALL SIGN. THEN HE REALIZED HE WAS TALKING TO US ON THE N SIDE AND HE MEANT TO CALL ACR Y, NOT ACR X. WE HAD CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT BARS AND PROCEEDED TO TAXI BACK BEHIND THE LINE AND HOLD. A MISCOM BTWN TWR AND THE PLTS OF BOTH ACFT. IT IS MY OPINION THAT GOING TO ONE MAN IN THE PHX TWR DURING THIS TIME IS UNSAFE.
