Narrative:

ATC facility: syr ground. Location: syr. During walkaround, deicer told me only type 1 fluid available. Current condition was moderate snow. I told the deicer that type 1 would only give us a holdover time of about 10 mins and asked if he could do a pretkof contamination check at the end of the runway. He said he could. After normal taxi to the deice pad the captain and I agreed that a 10 min holdover time was appropriate for the moderate snow and type 1. Deicing took 13 mins, so we asked the deice crew to follow us to the end of runway 28 for a contamination check. I got clearance from ground for the deice crew to come up on 121.7 from the deice/operations frequency to get clearance to follow us. I thought he understood, but he did not call ground. By the time we taxied to runway 28, we were 25 mins since deicing. I was not comfortable doing a contamination check from the cabin because of the extended time since deice, the moderate snow and limited visibility 2800 RVR. I told ground we needed the deice crew to do a contamination check for us. Ground cleared us on to runway 28R on taxiway M and right on taxiway a to hold short of runway 32. Taxiway a braking condition was reported poor and the taxiway edges were obscured by snow and slush. Winds were 340 degrees at 15 KTS gusting to 25 KTS. While we were turning off runway 28, I was coordinating with ground and the deice crew. As we turned onto taxiway a, the captain braked for the hold short line and we felt the tail of the airplane slide to the right. When we tried to continue taxi, we realized we were stuck. The right main landing gear had departed taxiway a. Supplemental information from acn 364954: passenger deplaned via rear stairs onto awaiting bus.

Title: MD80 FLC HAS R MAIN GEAR DEPART THE TXWY DURING TURN ON TXWY. TXWY COVERED WITH SNOW AND SLUSH WITH THE EDGES OBSCURED BY SNOW. WHEN BRAKING, THE TAIL SLIDES TO THE R, OFF THE TXWY.

Narrative: ATC FAC: SYR GND. LOCATION: SYR. DURING WALKAROUND, DEICER TOLD ME ONLY TYPE 1 FLUID AVAILABLE. CURRENT CONDITION WAS MODERATE SNOW. I TOLD THE DEICER THAT TYPE 1 WOULD ONLY GIVE US A HOLDOVER TIME OF ABOUT 10 MINS AND ASKED IF HE COULD DO A PRETKOF CONTAMINATION CHK AT THE END OF THE RWY. HE SAID HE COULD. AFTER NORMAL TAXI TO THE DEICE PAD THE CAPT AND I AGREED THAT A 10 MIN HOLDOVER TIME WAS APPROPRIATE FOR THE MODERATE SNOW AND TYPE 1. DEICING TOOK 13 MINS, SO WE ASKED THE DEICE CREW TO FOLLOW US TO THE END OF RWY 28 FOR A CONTAMINATION CHK. I GOT CLRNC FROM GND FOR THE DEICE CREW TO COME UP ON 121.7 FROM THE DEICE/OPS FREQ TO GET CLRNC TO FOLLOW US. I THOUGHT HE UNDERSTOOD, BUT HE DID NOT CALL GND. BY THE TIME WE TAXIED TO RWY 28, WE WERE 25 MINS SINCE DEICING. I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE DOING A CONTAMINATION CHK FROM THE CABIN BECAUSE OF THE EXTENDED TIME SINCE DEICE, THE MODERATE SNOW AND LIMITED VISIBILITY 2800 RVR. I TOLD GND WE NEEDED THE DEICE CREW TO DO A CONTAMINATION CHK FOR US. GND CLRED US ON TO RWY 28R ON TXWY M AND R ON TXWY A TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 32. TXWY A BRAKING CONDITION WAS RPTED POOR AND THE TXWY EDGES WERE OBSCURED BY SNOW AND SLUSH. WINDS WERE 340 DEGS AT 15 KTS GUSTING TO 25 KTS. WHILE WE WERE TURNING OFF RWY 28, I WAS COORDINATING WITH GND AND THE DEICE CREW. AS WE TURNED ONTO TXWY A, THE CAPT BRAKED FOR THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND WE FELT THE TAIL OF THE AIRPLANE SLIDE TO THE R. WHEN WE TRIED TO CONTINUE TAXI, WE REALIZED WE WERE STUCK. THE R MAIN LNDG GEAR HAD DEPARTED TXWY A. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 364954: PAX DEPLANED VIA REAR STAIRS ONTO AWAITING BUS.
