Narrative:

On morning of mar/xx/97 I was called out to help troubleshoot an AC generator problem on aircraft abc. The run crew had been unsuccessfully trying to fix it all night long. After several hours of troubleshooting, the problem was discovered. (Faulty connector at the AC control box.) the aircraft was repaired, logbook signed and aircraft taken to the gate. Due to the aircraft run and the maintenance performed, it required a maintenance release which was forgotten. The problem was not discovered till several mins later -- approximately 20-30 mins, but the aircraft had just departed. Additional factor is 99% of maintenance I perform on the aircraft is line, and involves only a signoff in the logbook, not a maintenance release. Also, trying to get the aircraft to the gate in as short a time as possible. The problem was corrected at the next station by temporary maintenance release signed by another mechanic.
