Narrative:

Not truly unsafe to personnel. However, my aircraft (KA200) was parked on the ramp at mkl facing south. A helicopter (apache I think) hovered in from the north and came close enough that his downwash slammed the ka rudder against the stops. Conversation with the helicopter captain, he stated that the tower instructed him to park there. 1) helicopter pilots should know not to hover close to fixed wing aircraft. 2) the captain should have advised the tower that he would need to park elsewhere. 3) ATC personnel should know that they should not advise aircraft where to park. That should come from ramp personnel. Visual look at rudder revealed no damage. Flight completed to home base. Further inspection of rudder stops does not indicate any damage.

Title: CPR SMT WAS PARKED IN THE RAMP AREA WHEN A HELI MADE APCH FOR PARKING NEARBY. RESULTING DOWNWASH SLAMMED RUDDER AGAINST THE STOPS. INSPECTION REVEALED NO DAMAGE.

Narrative: NOT TRULY UNSAFE TO PERSONNEL. HOWEVER, MY ACFT (KA200) WAS PARKED ON THE RAMP AT MKL FACING S. A HELI (APACHE I THINK) HOVERED IN FROM THE N AND CAME CLOSE ENOUGH THAT HIS DOWNWASH SLAMMED THE KA RUDDER AGAINST THE STOPS. CONVERSATION WITH THE HELI CAPT, HE STATED THAT THE TWR INSTRUCTED HIM TO PARK THERE. 1) HELI PLTS SHOULD KNOW NOT TO HOVER CLOSE TO FIXED WING ACFT. 2) THE CAPT SHOULD HAVE ADVISED THE TWR THAT HE WOULD NEED TO PARK ELSEWHERE. 3) ATC PERSONNEL SHOULD KNOW THAT THEY SHOULD NOT ADVISE ACFT WHERE TO PARK. THAT SHOULD COME FROM RAMP PERSONNEL. VISUAL LOOK AT RUDDER REVEALED NO DAMAGE. FLT COMPLETED TO HOME BASE. FURTHER INSPECTION OF RUDDER STOPS DOES NOT INDICATE ANY DAMAGE.
