Narrative:
Flo approach asked us to descend from 8000 ft to cross ctf VOR at 6000 ft. I started the descent. First officer and I began discussing personal financial matter. At 10 mi east of ctf VOR, flo approach asked us to verify altitude, at which time I advised the first officer to tell him 5000 ft. After a brief moment of silence we asked the controller for a descent to 4000 ft. The controller advised us to maintain 5000 ft and to contact clt approach on frequency 120.05. This was a trip that I had picked up in open time schedule. This was my fifth day on duty after 4 days of early rise at XX00 am and 23 hours of flight time. I would say that being a bit tired was a contributing factor in this situation.

Title: FLC OF AN LTT OVERSHOT ALT DURING DSCNT RESULTING IN ATC INTERVENTION AND REASSIGNMENT TO THE NEW ALT.
Narrative: FLO APCH ASKED US TO DSND FROM 8000 FT TO CROSS CTF VOR AT 6000 FT. I STARTED THE DSCNT. FO AND I BEGAN DISCUSSING PERSONAL FINANCIAL MATTER. AT 10 MI E OF CTF VOR, FLO APCH ASKED US TO VERIFY ALT, AT WHICH TIME I ADVISED THE FO TO TELL HIM 5000 FT. AFTER A BRIEF MOMENT OF SILENCE WE ASKED THE CTLR FOR A DSCNT TO 4000 FT. THE CTLR ADVISED US TO MAINTAIN 5000 FT AND TO CONTACT CLT APCH ON FREQ 120.05. THIS WAS A TRIP THAT I HAD PICKED UP IN OPEN TIME SCHEDULE. THIS WAS MY FIFTH DAY ON DUTY AFTER 4 DAYS OF EARLY RISE AT XX00 AM AND 23 HRS OF FLT TIME. I WOULD SAY THAT BEING A BIT TIRED WAS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IN THIS SIT.
