Narrative:

In sum: this report concerns a fuel indication write-up on a convair 600. I checked the indicator in the cockpit, and the left gauge was showing 1900 pounds, and the right gauge was showing 1700 pounds. I dipped the fuel tanks, and the left tank was showing 210 gallons while the right tank was showing 220 gallons. However, I did not make a logbook entry detailing which indicator was reading incorrectly, I just copied down what the pilot had previously written in the logbook. The aircraft MEL states that only 1 correct fuel quantity indicator is required for the aircraft to be airworthy. I told the pilots that I was deferring the left indicator, and that they would need to dip the fuel tanks when preflting the aircraft.

Narrative: IN SUM: THIS RPT CONCERNS A FUEL INDICATION WRITE-UP ON A CONVAIR 600. I CHKED THE INDICATOR IN THE COCKPIT, AND THE L GAUGE WAS SHOWING 1900 LBS, AND THE R GAUGE WAS SHOWING 1700 LBS. I DIPPED THE FUEL TANKS, AND THE L TANK WAS SHOWING 210 GALLONS WHILE THE R TANK WAS SHOWING 220 GALLONS. HOWEVER, I DID NOT MAKE A LOGBOOK ENTRY DETAILING WHICH INDICATOR WAS READING INCORRECTLY, I JUST COPIED DOWN WHAT THE PLT HAD PREVIOUSLY WRITTEN IN THE LOGBOOK. THE ACFT MEL STATES THAT ONLY 1 CORRECT FUEL QUANTITY INDICATOR IS REQUIRED FOR THE ACFT TO BE AIRWORTHY. I TOLD THE PLTS THAT I WAS DEFERRING THE L INDICATOR, AND THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO DIP THE FUEL TANKS WHEN PREFLTING THE ACFT.
